It’s back to business as usual after a week of widespread school closures - with five exceptions.

At 6am this morning Wibsey Primary School was the only school in the Bradford district to remain partially closed due to problems with its central heating.

Those problems have now caused the school to close completely, and heating problems have also forced the closures of Beckfoot Upper Heaton School, Carlton Bolling College, St Francis Catholic Primary School and the Samuel Lister Academy.

A Wibsey Primary School spokesperson said: "We currently have no water or toilet facilities for most of the school. In addition, Boiler 2 is currently under repair and so parts of the school are well below temperature.

"The decision to close completely was taken at 8.25am and parents/carers were informed as soon as possible via text, BSO and staff meeting you at the gates.

"A huge thank you to those of you who understand this is a situation beyond our control. We do have engineers on site who we hope can fix the problem."
In an earlier statement they said: “We are tearing our hair out and gutted not to have a full opening on Monday. We have to thank our site staff and engineers for spending much of the weekend trying to sort this out. Keep your fingers crossed for Tuesday."

All other schools in the district are open as usual, according to Bradford Council.

Updated at 11.09am to reflect latest closures.
