THE body of a 37-year-old woman has been found in Bradford, police have confirmed.

Officers were called to Wapping Road, Bradford, at about 5.05pm yesterday by a member of the public.

At the time, police said that 'human remains' had been found at the site.

A large section of Wapping Road, which includes a small woodland, remain cordoned off today, including a footpath leading to the Shipley Airedale Road.

West Yorkshire Police have also asked for information on a fire at the scene on Sunday night and into Monday morning, or any other suspicious activity.

Enquiries are ongoing.

A Wapping Road resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “It’s a bit shocking.

“I always walk up there twice a day. To think that I have been walking past human remains is shocking.

“The police came to my door to ask me if I had seen anything suspicious, but I haven’t.

“This is all a bit too close to me."

Cllr Hassan Khan (Lab, Bowling and Barkerend) spoke of his shock at the find but urged residents to remain calm.

He said: “I am shocked by it, it should not happen in this community.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to the family who has lost their loved one.

“I know that residents have been shocked and concerned about what is happening. I am asking people to stay calm. It could happen anywhere.

“The police are investigating and we will find out what is happening.”

Anyone with any further information is urged to call police on 101, quoting log 1271 of February 22, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
