LATEST ON THIS STORY: Shock as police confirm body of woman, 37, found near busy footpath

POLICE have resumed their searches this morning after the discovery of what are believed to be human remains yesterday.

Officers attended Wapping Road at about 5.05pm on Thursday.

A witness said they appeared to be searching an area of shrubland.

Last night, there was also a police cordon across a footpath linking Wapping Road with Shipley Airedale Road.

Another witness who attempted to get along Wapping Road at around 7pm said they saw officers with flashlights looking around the sides of the road and into the shrubs.

The Life Church was open but no-one could be seen entering or leaving the premises.

A large police cordon remains in place at the scene this morning.

A statement from the police read: “Police were called to Wapping Road, Bradford, at about 5.05pm by a member of the public.

“Officers attended and found what are believed to be human remains.

“Initial inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances of what has occurred, and a police scene is likely to be in place for some time.”

Duty Inspector Graham Hawcroft said the scene had been protected overnight by officers to preserve any evidence.
