THE closure of a prominent restaurant in The Broadway has been confirmed by shopping centre bosses.

Veri Peri, on Bank Street, closed it doors in January, but there was little information on its future at the time.

The restaurant opened in August 2016, and was the first UK branch of the chain, which specialises in Portuguese style chicken and also has restaurants in Australia and Dubai.

The Bradford branch was its "pilot expansion" into the UK.

Ian Ward, general manager at The Broadway, said: "We can confirm that Veri Peri at The Broadway is now vacant.

"We can now expand our retail offer, and will be announcing a new retailer to fill this space in the centre in due course.”

The unit is next to The Light cinema, which will open in Spring as part of an expansion of the shopping centre.

The £4.1 million cinema project will also include restaurant and cafes.
