BRADFORD-based charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) surprised City Park with a host of pancake flippers to highlight the work it does to help people in need.

The Shrove Tuesday flash mob stunt was held to raise awareness of the UK charity that helps tens of thousands of people every year via its headquarters in Bradford.

After a countdown, scores of people revealed pans hidden in bags and jackets and started flipping pancakes.

A spokesperson said: “Living with problem debt and poverty is miserable but we want people to know that, with help, they can flip their situation around – we see that every day.

"It’s a great message of hope everyone needs to hear.”

CAP began in Bradford in 1996 and has its headquarters in North Street, Bradford.

It works through hundreds of churches and, in the city, runs three debt centres, five job clubs and courses to help tackle addictive behaviour and teach life skills.
