BRADFORD City fans and supporters have given their reactions to the news of McCall’s sacking yesterday morning.

Ian Taylor, secretary of Bingley Bantams Supporters’ Group said: “We are very sorry to see Stuart go, but football is football. For the past couple of months we have been poor having lost eight out of 10 games.

“We will still support the club and we wish him all the best.

“I think they (the owners) could have waited until the end of the season. We are still in the play-offs, we have a good squad and the season is not over.

“I have no preference who comes in. It may well be a foreign coach. He may be more suited to the style the owners are trying to put in place.

“They have invested a lot of money. We just need someone who can get the best out of the squad.

“It is difficult to assess the reaction by the squad because sometimes a new manager can give them a boost.

“The important thing is that we stay in the play-offs so it gives us a chance of promotion at the end of the season.

One supporter who goes to all home games with her son said: “We were really sad to hear the news.

“We go down to watch them training at Apperley Bridge a lot and on Friday Stuart was there on the pitch with the players, laughing and joking as if there were no problems.

“I don’t think the players had any problem with him, but it was if they didn’t want to play for the owners.”

Her partner added: “We watched them in training and balls were going into the net every few seconds. They were training really hard and looked great.

“Stuart was friendly and looked happy with what the team were doing.

“I think if they were thinking of getting a new manager they should have waited until the end of the season.”

George Maynard, from Thornton, who has supported the Bantams for the past 15 years added: “I hope we get someone who can steer the club in the right direction.”

There has been a outpouring of feelings on the Telegraph & Argus website following news of McCall’s departure.

Bcfc1987 said: “Gutted. The players and chairman have not covered themselves in any glory and should hang their heads in shame. You will always be a legendary City hero to me and I feel privileged to have witnessed you play both times at City. You deserved far better than what you got.”

Old Peculiar added: “If the German owners are reading this - after 30+ years of being a season ticket holder; if this turns out to be the wrong decision, I will be seriously rethinking whether I renew next season.

“Players and backroom staff should be hanging their heads in shame. No one is more committed to the club than Stuart McCall.

“With two home matches in the next two weeks, I think he should have been given one final chance to sort it out.”

Digger6666 said the news was “unbelievable”.

Plenty of loan signings, and Stuart had one game to get them into shape?

After last season just missing out on promotion, and losing players as we did.

BCFC is in a lot better position in the league this season than anyone expected us to be.

“Sure we have lost five league games on the bounce, but still in play offs.

“We are not in relegation trouble, and owners need to have a big reality check.

Tell the fans your real plans, because what they have just done is not right.

However, Chriss23, thought the sacking was right. He states: “Think I’m one of the few that thinks this is the right decision. The guy will always be a legend at City but it’s a results driven game and you can’t lose six on the bounce in the manner we have. It’s not like we have been unlucky we’ve been awful lately.

“His inability to change things when it’s not working was the final straw for me.”
