POLICE are appealing for witnesses after the driver of a car was died in a crash this morning in Holme Wood, Bradford.

A blue Nissan Qashqai and a black Toyota Auris collided at around 7.45am in Madison Avenue, at the junction with Mansel Mews.The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene, and no other injuries were reported.

But residents said they believe the driver, thought to be an older man, suffered a heart attack. 
Mandy Windle, 47, lives nearby and said she could see CPR being carried out. 
She said: “I’ve been thinking about it all day and wondering who it was. I was quite shocked, I just thought there had been an accident.”

Sami Weston said the driver of the other car, a taxi, “did what he needed to do” to stop the man from smashing into a wall and ran to the man’s aid after he had a heart attack at the wheel. 

Jean Whiteoake, 74, said: “It’s terrible. It’s really really sad. Both the cars looked fine. Both front ends were fine.”

Another resident said a police cordon was put in place at the scene.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision itself or either vehicle immediately before the collision. Anyone with any information is being asked to call the Western Area Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting log number 307.
