KEIGHLEY'S biggest mosque will be opening its doors to the wider community this month.
The Markazi Jamia Mosque, in Emily Street, will be taking part in a national event called Visit My Mosque on Sunday February 18.
Mosques across the country will be hosting open days for people of other faiths or no faith on this date.
More than 200 in the UK have registered to take part in the initiative, run by the Muslim Council of Britain, and Keighley's Markazi Jamia Mosque will be one of 10 mosques in Bradford district to participate.
A spokesman for the national organisers said: "Visit My Mosque day is overall about improving community cohesion, by encouraging all mosques in Britain to hold an open day at least once per year and fostering better community relations for the good of society.
"It's also about working to reduce misconceptions about Muslims in Britain, and celebrating the vast array of charitable, outreach and social action projects performed by UK mosques."
The open day in Keighley will run from noon till 3pm, and will feature refreshments, a tour of the mosque and an opportunity to ask questions about Islam.
