BRADFORD’S judges, magistrates, barristers and other dignitaries gathered at the city’s cathedral for the district’s annual legal service.
The service is one of only two to take place in Yorkshire - the other being at York Minster - and dates back to 2002.
A procession of the dignitaries, which also included the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Abid Hussain, was held before the service got under way yesterday.
The service is held to remember all those who work for the administration of justice and the security of society, pray for their work, and thank God for the blessings of impartiality and tolerance, justice, and mercy.
Other dignitaries who attended today’s service included Bradford Coroner Martin Fleming and Bradford Council Leader Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe.
The Honorary Recorder of Bradford, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC, said: “This service is a reminder to all of us that we are part of the community and also an opportunity to reflect that we are part of a bigger picture.
“It is a brilliant event, it’s wonderful and it's so rewarding.”
