A FURTHER two men have been charged in connection with a police operation that resulted in the death of 28 year-old Yassar Yaqub.

Rexhino Arapaj, 26, of Crosland Moor, Huddersfield, and David Butlin, 37, of Meltham, have been charged with conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of an offensive weapon.

They are due to appear before Leeds Magistrates’ Court on March 7.

Mr Yaqub, 28, from Crosland Moor, Huddersfield, was shot dead by a West Yorkshire Police firearms officer during an operation off Junction 24 of the M62, Ainley Top, on January 2 last year.

A handgun and ammunition was found in the vehicle in which Mr Yaqub was a passenger.

The driver of the car, Moshin Amin, of Dewsbury, is due to stand trial in April charged with firearms-related offences.

A vehicle was also stopped at the Chain Bar junction of the M62 near Bradford as part of the pre-planned police operation.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of Mr Yaqub’s death.
