A BRADFORD theatre is asking for local people to help explore the power of free speech and political activism.

The Truth to Power Café returns to Theatre in the Mill, based at the University of Bradford, on February 9. The event gives participants five minutes to speak before a live audience by responding to the question: “Who has power over you and what do you want to say to them?”

Project creator Jeremy Goldstein says: ‘Speaking ‘truth to power’ has its origins in anti-war pacifism, but in this age of fake-news is widely accepted to mean saying something to those in authority or position of trust who don’t want to hear it.

Theatre in the Mill and London Artists Projects are inviting people of all ages, beliefs, and backgrounds to take part and share their "truth to power" by submitting 100 words via an open-call about their chosen subject.

The event starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 and are available by visiting brad.ac.uk/theatre/whats-on/truth-to-power/
