THE cost of car insurance for Bradford drivers has increased by 110 per cent in the past 10 years.

And in the past year alone, the average price of a premium has climbed by 8 per cent, to £1,233, according to research.

Residents are paying up to £88 more a year.

Figures from Confused.com show Bradford is the most expensive place to insure vehicles outside of London.

Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at the company, said drivers can expect to see prices increase even more through the year.

But she said insurers now have to show motorists what they paid for their insurance in the previous year, making it easier to compare renewal prices. The organisation has created a premium calculator on their website for residents to track price changes and search for savings.
