SPECIALIST firefighters were called to a house in Yeadon tonight to help remove a bariatric patient in a medical emergency.
The technical rescue team, from Cleckheaton, were called to a house in Coverley Garth, at 7pm to assist the ambulance service get the man out of the house and into a waiting ambulance.
A spokesman for the fire service said they had to remove a couple of doors and the staircase and put a rope system in so they could get the man out in a dignified and speedy manner.
"It was classed as a medical emergency and we managed to get the gentleman out in 20 minutes so he could be taken to hospital," he said.
