PLANS to turn an empty shop into a dessert cafe have been withdrawn, the day before they were likely to be refused by councillors.
Usman Yaqoob had applied to change the use of the ground floor of recently refurbished 160 Allerton Road (above), on the junction with Pearson Lane, from retail to a cafe.
The planning documents said the new business would serve hot and cold desserts.
The application was due before the Bradford Area Planning Panel today, and planning officers had recommended the plans for refusal.
But the application was withdrawn yesterday.
Highways officers had raised concerns over where customers of the cafe would park. Their report said: "There are double yellow lines around the junction, and it was observed at the time of the site visit that vehicles were parked illegally on the pavement close to the site.
"The change of use is likely to exacerbate this situation.
"The applicant has suggested that customers can park in surrounding streets. In practice this is very unlikely to happen."
