JOHN Kear is toying with the plan of unleashing some more of the Bulls' young talent against Dewsbury.

The Bradford side that beat Sheffield in their second pre-season friendly had an average age of just over 23.

But Kear is prepared to lower that for the Paul Sykes testimonial on Sunday to have a glimpse at the club's academy products.

The Bulls coach aims to have a good look at all his resources available as their five-game warm-up schedule increases in intensity.

Kear said: "Sheffield was a step up and I'm certain the next two games, Dewsbury and Toronto, will provide an even tougher challenge as well.

"The team might be even younger against Dewsbury. I've looked at some of these young under-19s at training and they are very exciting.

"Some of them need letting loose and we might well have a look at them on Sunday."

Teenage second-row Evan Hodgson is one who has already captured Kear's attention and he got stuck in when he came off the bench against the Eagles.

Kear said of the 19-year-old: "He's fearless. I've learned that in a very short period of time.

"I wish he was a bit bigger – there's no doubt in my mind if he was, he'd be a Super League player. But he's got to adapt his game as well to his physique.

"You can't do anything about that. You can put some timber on him but his basic shape will stay the same.

"But the kid is a talent and he did pretty well when he went out there for the last half hour."

Joe Keyes is still hoping to make his first appearance on Sunday since the knee injury he suffered in the World Cup in November.

George Milton, also recovering from a knee problem, is likely to miss out again but he has been pencilled in for the Wolfpack's visit to Odsal a week on Friday.
