A PROMINENT restaurant in The Broadway is "not currently operating" according to the centre's managers.

Veri Peri, on Bank Street, has not opened for several days, and the centre has confirmed to the Telegraph & Argus that they have been made aware the business is closed "at the moment," but currently has little information on its future.

The restaurant opened in August 2016, and was the first UK branch of the chain, which specialises in Portuguese style chicken and also has restaurants in Australia and Dubai.

The Bradford branch was its "pilot expansion" into the UK.

When it opened, the company told the Telegraph & Argus that the branch had created 25 full time roles.

The unit is next to The Light cinema, which will open in Spring as part of an expansion of the shopping centre.

It currently has a smashed window pane and all its tables remain laid out with napkins and cutlery.

Ian Ward, general manager at The Broadway, said: “We have been made aware of the fact that Veri Peri is not currently operating in The Broadway at the moment.

"We will have more information in due course.”
