ST George's Hall is one of six schemes discussed by the Council's Executive Board at a meeting yesterday.

Councillors heard how work is progressing on the music hall, with the building due to reopen with a "soft" launch towards the end of 2018. The works include replacing the roof and windows, new lighting, refurbishing auditorium seats, installing a new stage and revamping the front of house area.

Councillors also discussed other projects including plans for relocating Oastler Market to the former Marks and Spencer building on Darley Street to create "new food focused" market.

The Executive board heard updates about developing One City Park into offices and improving Bradford Forster Square and Bradford Interchange stations.

Cllr Ross-Shaw, portfolio holder for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: "We have been getting good feedback from the market traders so far.

"Over the next three or four years the city centre will become a very different place. There are a lot of good things happening in Bradford."

An update on plans for the restoration of the former Odeon Cinema was held in private, with members set to receive an updated confidential report into the details of a proposed £12m Council loan to allow work on the building to proceed.
