EMERGENCY sewer repairs that have closed a major road in Queensbury will keep the road shut for "at least seven more days".

The closure in Ford Hill/Halifax Road, has been in place since New Year's Day, when the road was shut for emergency repairs to a damaged sewer.

Initially the closure was expected to last "a few days", but a spokesman for Yorkshire Water has now said it will last for at least another week.

He said: “Ford Hill is fully closed at the moment whilst we carry out emergency sewer repairs which involves excavating parts of the road.

"A signposted diversion route is in place and we a will be working 12 hour days on-site to try and repair and re-open the road as soon as possible.

"We estimate that the road will remain closed for at least seven more days and we will be working throughout this weekend.

"We would like to thank commuters for their patience and apologise for any disruption caused.”

A diversion route is in place for traffic.
