THE architects behind plans to transform a landmark city centre building have revealed the first glimpse of what its new interior will look like.

Last month plans to turn the former Brown Muff & Co building into a 69 room aparthotel were given the go-ahead by Bradford Council.

Architects Fletcher-Rae have now released artist's impressions showing what the building's rooms and lobby will look like.

The rooms will vary in size from 28sqm to 50sqm.

Existing ground floor businesses, including Cafe Nero, Nationwide, and Betfred will remain, and access to the aparthotel will be from Ivegate.

The building's upper floors have been empty for many years, and it was previously home to Rackham's department store. The new plans will see major changes made to the building's interior and an extra floor added to the top of the building.

Co-Founder Andrew Rae said: "The former Brown & Muff building is prominent in the area, yet semi-vacant and underutilised.

"With plans progressing, active use will be reinstated across the upper floors and the building’s presence will be enhanced with a recognisable frontage from surrounding high-streets. The underlying aim of the development is to strengthen the area, acting as a catalyst for further development.

"Due to the flexibility of the aparthotel design, the venue accommodates overnight bookings and lengthy reservations alike with the capacity to accept guests for a duration of six months or more."

Operators have yet to be selected for the building work, and a start date has also not been set.
