A BRADFORD snooker hall will be allowed to open until 2am after councillors approved a change to its business hours.

Mouneeb Younas applied to extend the opening hours of On Q Snooker Centre, in Shearbridge Mills off Great Horton Road, to 4am. Its current closing time is 11pm.

However, planning officers spoke with the applicant and it was agreed to change the proposed closing time from 4am to 2am.

A planning report said: “it appears the snooker centre has been opening later than its 11pm permission.”

There had been six objections to the plans, saying it would cause early morning noise and nuisance and 54 letters of support, claiming it would benefit people on late shift work, like taxi drivers.

Bradford Council’s Bradford Planning Panel have now approved the new hours on an 18 month trial basis “to allow the Council sufficient time to assess the impact of the development on the neighbouring residential street of Grantham Road, where complaints about noise and general disturbance have been received.”

The centre will have to revert to its original 11pm closing time on June 13 2019 unless a new application is submitted.
