A GROUP of 12 young people attending YMCA Bradford's Prince's Trust Team have come together to deliver a Team Challenge supporting Bradfords homeless and rough sleepers this winter through the distribution of Winter Warmth Care packs.

Working from their base at Culture Fusion, in Thornton Road, the group has held a sponsored bike ride around the city to raise funds and collected donations from students at Bradford College and local market traders to make up 40 care packs to keep the homeless warm this winter.

Packs consisted of thermal hats, gloves, scarves, socks and emergency blankets alongside hygiene essentials and energy bars.

Marvin Gaye, YMCA Prince’s Trust Team Leader, said: "The team has worked really hard and have developed a whole new understanding about working together for the benefit of others.

"I have seen massive changes in the nature of the young people. The issue of homelessness has really left them with an awareness of the differences in society and the need for supporting the vulnerable."

The next YMCA Team programme starts in January at Culture Fusion. The programme lasts 12 weeks and is free to attend.

Young people will get involved in team building activities as well as gaining nationally recognised qualifications.
