MULLED wine, mince pies and spiced apple juice were on offer to visitors to a Silsden craft shop.

Many Hands attracted around 60 people to its first community social evening where they were able to buy gifts for Christmas.

Many Hands is a craft cooperative run by eight friends, which works with local artists and craftspeople to deliver workshops and sell their wares.

During the day Chris Newsom demonstrated Chinese brush painting and local artist Martin Williamson drew cartoons for visiting children. There were also knitting, cross-stitch and tatting demonstrations.

A Many Hands team member said: “We really feel we have been accepted by the people of Silsden and the feedback we have received is phenomenal.”

Many Hands representatives visited Airedale General Hospital this month to deliver knitted dementia-friendly 'twiddle muffs', which keep restless fingers busy, to the Occupational Therapy team.

They also called at the Special Care Baby Unit to drop off laundry bags for each baby's crib. These were suggested by many Hands member Pauline Marshall, who worked for many years on the unit.
