HE’s been battling snakes and giant spiders on TV’s I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, but boxing champ Amir Khan will soon be back in his smart suits, thanks to a Bradford designer.

Imran Khan has made several suits for the light-welterweight fighter, who has visited the designer's Bradford store, IK Collection, on Westgate. “He’d seen my designs online and wanted to purchase some suits,” said Imran. "He came into my shop in Bradford last year and thought the clothes were fantastic. I made five suits for him."

The boxer wore a blue suede suit designed by Imran at the Pride of Britain Awards. More recently, viewers have seen Amir face a series of ‘bushtucker trials’ in hit ITV show I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, which ends this weekend. “They showed footage of him before he went into the jungle, and he was wearing the blazer from a three-piece suit I designed for him. He wore it with jeans,” said Imran. “I’ve had lots of interest in it on social media.”

Imran has also designed for celebrities including actor Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, TV antiques expert David Dickinson, the late magician Paul Daniels, and Bollywood stars. “I met Rupert Grint on a film set in Manchester and designed a one-off suit for him,” said Imran. “David Dickinson had heard of my designs and liked my waistcoats. When his antiques show came to Bradford I took some outfits along for him to try on. He chose a quilted waistcoat which he’s been wearing on the show."

Imran went from selling cars to the catwalk when he became a model by chance, after accompanying a colleague on a modelling assignment. He went on to set up events management company Elite Events, and Elite Models, and, drawing on his fashion background, started designing men's clothing. As well as his Bradford store, he sells designs on IKCollections.co.uk.

“I've always been into stylish clothes," he said. "When I was young I used to love wearing suits with handkerchiefs.

"I liked to sketch blazer ideas and it went from there. Blazers are a timeless classic, anyone can wear them. I’ve noticed kids have started to wear them.”

Imran is particularly proud of overcoming his struggle with dyslexia as a child. “I used to fidget a lot at school. A support teacher helped me and now I try and inspire others by talking about my achievements. It shows that you can be a success, despite being dyslexic."

Imran, who has worked as an extra as well as a model, appearing on Coronation Street and Channel 4 drama Shameless, launched the Khan Can People’s Charity in 2006 response to an earthquake in Pakistan, and has raised thousands of pounds.
