POLICE have raided two cannabis farms in Keighley, seizing plants and cigarettes.

Yesterday a Vietnamese national was arrested after a raid on an address on Devonshire Street. Police had been tipped off about the cannabis grow by members of the public, and after searching the house found 120 cannabis plants and 300 cannabis seedlings.

The man was charged for production of cannabis and remanded into custody pending a court date.

It came a few days after police also raided a property on Paget Street, where they found 50 cannabis plans and several crates of cigarettes.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis, and both have been released still under investigation for the offences.

Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team estimated that large amount of cigarette packets, contained in several large cardboard boxes, represented £25,000 in unpaid duty.

The find came during a raid on Thursday.

NPT sergeant Pete Softley said: “The visit came on the back of community information. Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs were contacted to conduct enquiries and seize the goods, and will be doing their own investigation.”

HMCR declined to comment on the incident.
