TELEGRAPH & Argus Camera Club member said he got covered in mud himself as he captured the winning shot of an entrant, neck-deep in muddy water during a charity event in the summer.

Rais Hasan, of Shipley, said he took around 1,000 shots that day at a Total Warrior 10k event at Bramham Park, in Leeds.

The Brain Tumour Research and Support organisation which Mr Hasan takes photographs for is an official partner of Total Warrior and while taking his pictures, found the one he wanted to enter in the T&A Camera Club's monthly competition for September, entitled "Action".

"I felt very honoured to have won the T&A "Action" category in September, amongst some of the seriously impressive Bradford District based photographers. And I want to thank the judges very much for the wonderful canvas print which I have on my wall. I have already shown it to all my family," he said.

A large canvas print of his winning image was presented to Mr Hasan by John Greenwood, of photographic printing company Pro-Am Imaging, which sponsors the competition.

As well as the T&A competition, the image, also called Total Warrior, went on to win the National Print competition at the London Calumet Gallery Exhibition in October. Two further images were highly commended.

Photography was Mr Hasan's salvation 10 years ago when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and his family bought him a small camera to keep himself busy while recuperating at home.

As he recovered he attended a two-year college course in Shipley to learn photography and became a member of Bradford Photographic Society, of which he became president last year.

Today he captures images from all walks of life using a Nikon d810 camera with a 24-70mm lens.

"This camera does everything I need and had produced some wonderful images for me," he said.
