A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Keighley girl has raised nearly £3,000 for the hospice that cared for her late grandad.

Lily Smith coined-in the cash by taking part in Manorlands’ Hallowe’en Monster Dash at Cliffe Castle Park.

She handed over a £2,931 cheque at the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice, with the help of her grandad, Stephen Smith.

He has since died, last Thursday.

Lily raised the money through sponsorship, an online page and matched funding.

Her mum, Debbie Smith, said: “We’re all so proud of Lily, and her grandad was particularly proud.

“We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us and sponsored Lily to raise this amazing total for Manorlands. It means so much to us.”

And tribute is paid by the hospice’s senior community fundraiser, Hayley Ibbotson.

“It’s fantastic that at such a young age Lily already understands the importance of supporting Manorlands and how the money she raised can make such a difference to people who need us,” she said.

“Lily is a real credit to her family – nearly half the funds raised by the event as a whole have come from her.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to her for raising such an incredible amount.”

More than 220 people took part in the Monster Dash – the first event of its kind staged by Manorlands.
