A FIRM has continued to build its strong national reputation with two awards.

NG Bailey, which has its headquarters in Ilkley, was named specialist contractor of the year and BIM (building information modelling) initiative of the year at the 2017 Building Awards.

The UK’s largest independent engineering, IT and facilities services group, which employs almost 3,000 people, won the BIM prize for its free BIM software tool developed in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).

The double award win completes a successful year for the company, which had a 23 per cent increase in sales in the year to February 24, and doubled its operating profits to £12 million.

Its high-profile projects included mechanical and electrical services at London Bridge Station, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing services on the installation of one of the world’s most powerful computers, at the Met Office in Exeter.

It also provided smart building connectivity for a new entertainment and conference venue at Belfast Waterfront.

NG Bailey was ranked in 27th place in the Sunday Times Top Track 250 last month.

The list ranks Britain’s 250 biggest private mid-market growth companies and joined well-known brands including McLaren supercar maker, David Lloyd Leisure and Southampton Football Club.

The league table is published every October, selection criteria specifies UK registered companies with sales or operating profits growing year-on-year by ten per cent with annual sales typically between £120m and £630m.

David Hurcomb, NG Bailey chief executive, said: “Everything we have achieved this year is down to the great people we have right across the business.

“Our success is built on a platform of industry-leading expertise and exceptional customer service delivery, and these two prestigious awards are further evidence of how that is differentiating us in the market.”

The Building Awards ceremony took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London earlier this month.

The awards judges said: “NG Bailey have had a great deal of milestones throughout the year and are an incredibly strong player in the market.

“They stand out from the crowd and have a great deal of evidence to back up the fact they fully deserve to win.”

NG Bailey, which was founded in 1921, has 15 sites across the UK including in Bradford, Belfast and Aberdeen.
