TWO men have avoided jail for their role in a brawl in a Bradford pub car park.
Kyle Whitaker, 31, squared up against Jim Whiteley, 22, in the foyer of the Toby Carvery on Rooley Lane on September 9 before the fight spilled outside. Prosecutor Alisha Kaye said the pair, who knew each other, had been at the pub with their respective families.
She said Whiteley had suffered a puncture wound after being stabbed by a fork, while father-of-eight Whitaker required treatment for a broken nose after being punched to the face.
Both men pleaded guilty to a charge of affray.
The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall, said the “unpleasant” incident had been aggravated by the presence of other families in the pub.
Both men were jailed for six months, suspended for a year, with Whitaker, of Gerard House, Idle, given 80 hours’ unpaid work and Whiteley, of Greyswood Crescent, Holme Wood, handed a two-month curfew.
