Communities across the Bradford district will be coming together this weekend to remember servicemen and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country in war.

Services are taking place in Bradford city centre and towns and villages across the district to mark Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Bradford city centre

In Bradford city centre, on Saturday, November 11, a service is taking place at the war memorial in Morley Street from 10.45am to mark Armistice Day, the annual commemoration to mark the end of the First World War.

On Remembrance Sunday, the annual Remembrance parade will leave City Hall at 10.40am, before making its way to the war memorial for a service at 11am.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Abid Hussain, will attend both events, as well as the service in Baildon.

A Songs For Peace event will take place at the war memorial on Sunday between 1pm and 2.30pm, to remember all those that have died in war. Organised by the Yorkshire Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, the singing will continue at Glyde House after the war memorial gathering.

Keighley & Ilkley

Meanwhile, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Bradford, Cllr Doreen Lee, will attend services in Ilkley and Keighley on Sunday.

The Keighley event begins with a parade from Russell Street to Keighley Parish Shared Church at 9.35am for a service at 10am, followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial in Town Hall Square at 11am. Cllr Lee will then travel to Ilkley for the ceremony, which begins with a parade from Whitton Croft Road at 2.40pm to the Memorial Gardens in The Grove, for a service at 3pm.
