A MAN alleged to have been murdered died from a single gunshot to his head, an inquest heard today.

The body of Tyron Charles, 29, was found earlier this month on remote moorland at Oxenhope, almost five weeks after he was reported missing.

Police carried out a robust investigation and search to find him, Assistant Bradford Coroner Peter Merchant was told.

In police evidence read out to the inquest it was heard that Mr Charles, of Unity Street South, Bingley, had gone with a friend to the Denholme home of a man called James Sutcliffe on September 6 because he wanted money.

He was not there, so Mr Charles went to a smallholding at Doe Park in Denholme where he was.

Sutcliffe, who has since been charged with Mr Charles's murder, told detectives he was in a vehicle with Mr Charles when money was demanded from him.

He told police he threw £350 at Mr Charles who then got out of the car and walked off. Sutcliffe said it was the last thing he saw of him.

The next day, September 7, Mr Charles's mother reported him missing.

On September 15, police searched a container at the smallholding and found blood identified as that of Mr Charles.

Mr Merchant heard that the forensic officers discovered the amount of blood found at the scene, which was mixed in with sand and cement, was enough to have hospitalised someone.

Police searches continued and on October 11 officers found Mr Charles's body on land at Hillhouse Edge Lane, Oxenhope.

He was later identified by his fingerprints.

A full CT bodyscan and post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death was a gunshot wound to his head.

Sutcliffe is due to appear before Bradford Crown Court on November 6 for a plea hearing.

Sutcliffe's solicitor has confirmed his legal team does not need a second post-mortem examination.

Mr Merchant said: "It seems to me in these circumstances it is satisfactory that the identity of the deceased is Tyron Charles, aged 29, of Unity Street South, Bingley, and I'm satisfied with the cause of death.

"In view of the ongoing criminal proceedings it's appropriate for me to adjourn this inquest."
