Youngsters had the chance to get creative at a new events space in Oastler Market.

A number of vacant units in the centre of the indoor market have been moved to make way for the space, which will provide an area for community led projects.

Halloween-themed events were held today to mark its opening, with mask making workshops, face painting and a mummy wrapping workshop run by Young Masters Visual Art School.

Gemma Hobbs, from Young Masters, said: "It has been really busy, which has been fantastic.

"There has been a real age range, from two to 15 years old, as well as lots of full families.

"There has been lots of smiling faces."

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said: “We are always trying new things at our markets to increase footfall and make them more attractive to shoppers and this new Market Event Space at the Oastler Shopping Centre will be a great opportunity for local groups and individuals."

Other events planned for the space in the coming months include the second Bradford Print Fair, which will take place on November 25, and a Young Enterprise trade fair on December 9.
