A £100,000 project to reduce flooding in Bingley has got under way.

Yorkshire Water is installing an extra surface water sewer to reduce future flooding risks to homes near Gilstead and Eldwick. The work, which began today, will take around ten weeks to complete.

It will involve 130 metres of new sewer laid in Swan Avenue between the junctions with Canary Drive and Nightingale Walk, and alongside the footpath which runs parallel to Eldwick Primary School.

For safety reasons, the footpath will be closed for the duration of the project; a fully signed diversion route will be in place for pedestrians.

From Monday, November 6, work will start in Swan Avenue. The road will be closed to through traffic between the junctions with Canary Drive and Nightingale Walk for the rest of the project.
