A FILM charting the first 12 months in charge for Bradford City’s German owners will be showcased next month.

Matter of Heart follows the first season in charge for Stefan Rupp and Edin Rahic after they bought the club in May last year.

The 90-minute movie will be premiered at the Pictureville Cinema, at the National Science and Media Museum, on Tuesday, November 14, at 7pm. A premiere will be held in Munich the following week.

The VIP invitation-only event in Bradford will feature some of the club’s top names and sponsors. City chiefs have also appealed for businesses to attend the screening, with a view to becoming sponsors and appearing in a sequel, which is being filmed this season.

The international film crew followed the first German owners of a British football club through a turbulent first campaign at the helm.

The documentary shows behind-the-scenes footage, following everything from the training ground to the boardroom.

In pre-season, the Bantams had to rebuild after manager Phil Parkinson and members of his backroom staff quit the club and they were left with only a few players on contracts.

The owners quickly appointed City stalwart Stuart McCall as the club’s new boss.

The footage includes the sale of fans’ favourite James Hanson and the signing of striker Charlie Wyke from Carlisle United.

It also follows events including the death of City legend Bobby Campbell, the highs of their League One semi-final play-off victory against Fleetwood Town and City’s heartbreak at Wembley, where they lost 1-0 to Millwall.

Matter of Heart will also reach a wider audience when it is broadcast in four 30-minute shows on satellite channel Eurosport next month and in December.

Mr Rahic said the film followed the highs and lows of his first season at the helm of the club and would increase City’s international appeal.

He said: “We had so many interesting things that we experienced in the first season. This documentary should be the start of the journey.

“This is an ideal opportunity to see what we’re about.”

James Mason, City’s chief operating officer, said it was not just a story of City but also the story of the two German owners and what they had sacrificed to take over the Valley Parade club.

He said: “The documentary won’t just have an appeal to City fans, but to all football fans.

“It was a wonderful season and it’s an exciting time to be part of the club. But it’s not just a football documentary. Edin and Stefan are underdogs – it is a human interest story. Edin gave up his life in Germany and brought his family over here.”
