A SERIES of fundraising events organised through the Bold Privateer pub, in Wrose, kicks off with a charity football match this Saturday.

Paul Loat, landlord of the pub, along with friends Michael Davis and Danny Neylon, have pledged to go “Sober for October”. The money they raise through sponsorship will be added to two upcoming charity events.

The first is a charity football match on Saturday, October 21 at Wrose Playing Fields, beginning at 12 noon.

The teams are the pub team Priv Lions and Soberteer 11.

There will be a karaoke afternoon at the pub following the game and a Gary Barlow and Take That tribute group later in the evening.

Mr Loat said: “We are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and appreciate all donations towards our fundraiser.

“There is a lot going on in and around the pub including raffles with some great prizes donated from local Wrose companies.

“We hope people will come along to the match and support the players who have each paid £10 to take part.”

All three men are being regularly breath tested to prove to their sponsors they have not yet had a drink this month.
