POLICE are investigating after a woman was pelted with stones and another burnt on the leg by a firework thrown by youths in an unprovoked attack.

Both incidents occurred in Maudsley Street, Bradford, which leads to Marie Curie hospice.

Police said they had received a report of youths throwing stones at a passing motorist while driving at the bottom of the street on Thursday, October 12 at around 4.35pm.

The woman is believed to have received a minor injury in the attack.

A spokesman said: "A group of five youths started to throw stones at a woman in her car, causing damage to her vehicle.

"The woman, who was in her 50s, got out of the car and the youths continued to throw stones. Other members of the public who witnessed the incident also got out of their vehicles and the youths fled the scene.

"Inquiries remain ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference 13170474907."

Police also received a third party report that a firework had been thrown at a woman leaving a work premises in Maudsley Street on Thursday evening.

The spokesman added: "Officers attended and spoke to staff members about the incident. Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 533 of 13/10."
