A TEAM of volunteers from a Keighley company and family members have raised more than £12,000 in memory of a baby who was born asleep.

Simply Better Events staged a live karaoke event, To the Moon & Back.

A large chunk of the proceeds – £9,961 – has gone to Chellow Hearts, which supports Chellow Heights Special School in Bradford.

And the remainder has been donated to Bradford Sands, a stillbirth and neonatal death charity.

The event was in tribute to Thomas Arthur Hall, who was born asleep in November last year.

His aunt is Katie Ramsden, account manager at Simply Better Events.

She was instrumental in bringing the event to fruition, supported by Thomas' parents, Janie and Matthew Hall. Match funding was provided by their employers.

Sponsorship was provided by Simply Better Events, Rockaoke and Bradford & Bingley Sports Club, where the extravaganza took place.

Silent auction and raffle prizes were donated by businesses, family and friends.

Janie and Matthew said it was an "incredible" evening enjoyed by everyone and they thanked all those who attended and donated.

"Most importantly the event helped keep Thomas' memory alive and supported charities that are so close to our hearts," they added.

Katie Hansard, a family support worker and charity fundraiser at Chellow Hearts, thanked the organising team.

"We have arranged for a pantomime to come into school in January as a special treat for all the children – which has been funded with some of the money – and we are also using some of the funding for a family trip to Stockeld Park at Hallowe'en," she said.

Rob Woodhead, managing director at Simply Better Events, said: "Family and community are important to us and we wanted to support Katie's family in doing something so positive in Thomas' memory.

"We're incredibly proud to have been able to provide our services and help to raise valuable funds for these two amazing local charities."
