FAMILY and friends from all over Yorkshire attended the 90th birthday celebrations of twin sisters Christina Potts and Mary Verity.

The party with a buffet tea was held at Great Horton Conservative Club on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the special milestone of the two sisters.

They were born and brought up in the Great Horton area of the city where Mrs Verity still lives.

Her sister lives in nearby Wibsey.

Their actual birthday date is tomorrow Tuesday, October 10, and they were thrilled when 60 family and friends from Sheffield, Crewe, Barnsley, Skipton , Bridlington, Leeds and the Bradford area joined them for the special celebration at the weekend.

A collection in lieu of presents raised £160 for the Stroke Association.

The sisters both left school at the age of 14 and went to work at Courtaulds, in Great Horton.

They met friends Arthur Potts and Norman verity and had a double wedding at St John’s Church in Great Horton.

Christina and Arthur went on to have two children, Eileen and Jonathan, and three grandchildren, Ronald, Amy and Sarah.
