TIKKA Masala has been revealed as the favourite curry dish of people in Bradford in a new survey held as part of National Curry Week.

Almost a quarter of respondents chose Tikka Masala as their favourite dish, followed by 15 per cent who voted for Korma, nine per cent who chose Balti, and eight per cent who chose Jalfrezi and Rogan Josh.

Almost a third of people said the rice of choice they have to accompany their curry is pilau rice, followed by egg fried rice (29 per cent) and boiled rice (18 per cent).

Garlic naans came out on top as the district’s favourite with 41 per cent of the vote, followed by plain naans, which a quarter of people chose.

The survey was carried out to mark the 20th National Curry Week.

Tikka Masala was also found to be the nation’s favourite curry dish, and won the bulk of the vote in Yorkshire.

Bradford is renowned for its curry restaurants, having won the Curry Capital of Britain award an unprecedented six years in a row.

The city has also hosted the World Curry Festival for the past eight years. The festival was cancelled this year, but will return to Bradford in 2018.
