POLICE have seized £12,000 of drugs, a cache of weapons and £10,000 in cash in a major operation in Bradford West.

Officers said that a week of action under codenamed 'Operation Snailarm' was designed to disrupt drug supply and anti-social behaviour in the Grantham Road area of the city.

The operation was triggered by complaints from the local community and as a direct response to an incident last month in which a special constable was injured by being "dragged down the street by a car" while trying to exercise stop and search powers.

The Bradford West Neighbourhood Policing Team, led by Inspector Tom Casey and Sergeant Al Milner, executed warrants at addresses on Grantham Road, Spring Place, and Retford Place.

Approximately £11,500 of heroin and cocaine were recovered, along with £500 of cannabis, £10,000 in cash, and a range of "street weapons", including knives and a knuckle duster.

Four men, aged between 19 and 48, have been arrested in connection with the operation, with a further three men set to be questioned in due course.

Two vehicles were also seized by officers.

Insp Casey said: "I am delighted with the results, following months of gathering intelligence from the local community.

"This is one of many positive examples of having nine dedicated officers to act upon intelligence and be pro-active in the west part of the city.

"Their teamwork and commitment has paid off. This week's action should send a clear message to those that are making a living from crime that they will not go unchallenged."
