A MONOPOLY superfan with more than 200 versions of the famous board game in his collection has had his hometown edition signed by Bradford’s Lord Mayor.

Tom Denby, 33, of Eccleshill, is an avid collector of the game, and last year received a certificate of authenticity for his Bradford version when it was signed by the then Lord Mayor, Councillor Geoff Reid.

He returned to the Lord Mayor’s chambers yesterday to allow Councillor Abid Hussain to sign his collector’s item, which he hopes one day will be put on display in City Hall.

Mr Denby brought along a few of the more unusual versions from his 205-strong collection, including a Donald Trump Entertainments Resort edition and a set celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Mustang.

Speaking of the Bradford edition, which he acquired in 2013, he said: “It’s not worth a lot overall, but it’s got a real sentimental value for me.

“If I were ever to leave Bradford, it has got all the memories there.

“I can play the game and picture all the places like a little video in my head.”
