CREWS have been called to a fire in the attic of a four storey house in Lidget Green.

Firefighters from Bradford and Fairweather Green fire stations were called to the blaze, in Waverley Avenue, Lidget Green. at around 7.50pm.

The crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, and positive pressure ventilation fans to extinguish the blaze in the attic space of the building, which had no working smoke detectors fitted in it.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said there were no injuries or rescues made in the fire.

She said: "There were no people in the house at the time.

"Its occupiers were out of the building and they called the incident in."

Watch Commander John Jackson from Fairweather Green fire station said the blaze was "thankfully" contained to the attic bedroom.

He added: "The rest of the floor was smoke damaged but there was no major damage.

"People need to make sure they have working smoke alarms, especially with attic bedrooms as sometimes there might be floor between the attic and the smoke detector, and if there is a fire you could really do with some early warning."
