CAPTAIN America and other superheroes took a Keighley toy shop by storm when they put in a special fundraising appearance.

Pedro Machado, from Thornbury, Bradford, runs the Superheroes for Kids charity that takes toys to children's wards in Bradford, Airedale and Leeds to cheer up young patients.

On Saturday, September 23, he donned his Captain America outfit to join other superhero characters at Toyland, in Cavendish Street, to raise money towards his Christmas toy run.

Excited youngsters posed for selfies with Batman, The Joker, Ghostbusters and a dancing Transformer among others, as well as joining in games.

Shop worker Susan Sloane, who dressed up as Cat Girl, said: "It's been mayhem but an amazing day for an amazing good cause."

Saturday was the second time that Superheroes for Kids has visited Toyland on a fundraising mission.

Mr Machado said: "We've hoped to raise as much money as possible. We've had tombola, games and the chance for children to take selfies with their favourite superheroes. We hope people will make donations to the charity to help us turn that money into toys and pass them on to children's wards in our area. We are getting ready for our Christmas toy runs. It's a humbling experience."
