PLANS to open a new take away in a Bradford shopping centre have been refused by Bradford Council.
The application would have seen the last empty unit at the Fieldhead shopping centre on Legrams Lane, converted to a hot food take away - opening until 11pm.
But the plans, by Mr Moulden, fell foul of the Council’s take away strategy, which prevents new take aways from opening within 400 metres of a school, park, leisure, sports or community centre.
The centre in a short distance from Grange Interlink, a community centre with playing fields.
The shopping centre already includes a number of take aways, including a Subway and Greggs, as well as a supermarket and restaurant, but the council policy, introduced to tackle childhood obesity, only applies to new businesses.
Planning officers also said a proposed flue proposed to be attached to the building would “have an adverse effect on visual amenity.”
