PLANS to add more accommodation to the site of a redeveloped former pub have been refused by planners.

The former Waggoners Arms in Queensbury has recently been converted into four flats, and Robin Steele had applied to create an extra flat by converting the upper floor of an outbuilding in the pub’s rear yard.

However, planning officers have refused the plans, saying the parking area around the outbuilding was designated for the occupants of the four flats that make up the existing conversion. They said: “The intensification of residential use of the site would likely result in on-street parking on Ford Hill, contrary to the safety of other road users.”

There were five objections from residents, citing parking and traffic concerns, and four letters of support, with one saying the outbuilding was currently a “boarded up eyesore.”
