HUNDREDS of disabled footballers from around the country competed in a tournament in Bradford today.

The event, organised by Bradford Disability Football Club, saw 51 junior and adult five-a-side teams battle it out at the Southfield Grange Campus in Little Horton, Bradford.

Participants with a range of disabilities took part across six categories, including seven teams from Bradford Disability FC.

Bradford City FC co-owner Edin Rahic and former player Wayne Jacobs handed out trophies, and all players came away with a medal.

It is the second annual tournament to be put on by Bradford Disability FC, after it staged its inaugural event in Keighley last year.

Tournament co-ordinator Steve Parr said: "We had 46 teams last year and 51 teams this year, so we are growing steadily and we were delighted to have both Wayne Jacobs and Edin Rahic there to give out the awards."

Bradford Disability Football Club (BDFC) provides access to football for anyone of any age, both male and female, with any disability whether it be learning or physical.

It was formed in 2002 with just eight players and now has more than 100 registered players on its books.
