STUART McCall praised “resolute” City after they saw off Rotherham at Valley Parade.

Romain Vincelot scored for the third game in a row – his header proving enough to clinch a 1-0 win over the Millers.

McCall was delighted with how well his team defended to record their first home clean sheet of the season.

He said: “I’ve said lots of times there are lots of ways to win football games. You can be lucky, brilliant or whatever.

“But today, we had to be resolute. Once we knew that the big boy Kieffer Moore was playing, we knew we'd have to defend.

"You look at Rotherham’s squad and they have a lot of players who have played at Championship level.

“They were on a good run of form and free-scoring and for us to get a clean sheet was terrific."

And McCall couldn’t resist a joke about his skipper, who found a hole in Rotherham’s backline to nod home Tony McMahon’s cross after 20 minutes.

The City boss added: "Romain set himself a target of ten last year and was miles away. I set him a target of one this year, so he's now outdoing himself!"
