STUART McCall is eyeing Valley Parade revenge on Rotherham winger Jon Taylor tomorrow – for once ruining his family holiday!

The City boss is excited by the prospect of a Yorkshire derby between two in-form teams and he knows all about the threat of a visiting side who have won three on the bounce.

Taylor was in his sights at Motherwell three years ago but the move fell apart while McCall was on a break in Florida.

He said: "I like Taylor and tried to sign him from Shrewsbury. I thought I'd done the deal.

"I was outside Universal Studios speaking to him on the phone. It was all done and he was coming up to Scotland.

"But the next minute Peterborough nicked in. He went there instead and it killed my holiday.

"As the goals would suggest, Rotherham have got threats. Kieffer Moore is strong and powerful and Lee Frecklington has just got a hat-trick.

"But we'll focus on ourselves. We've got lots of threats and options."

With the team performing well, McCall admits it has been tough for the likes of £200,000 signing Shay McCartan and Paul Taylor being stuck on the fringes.

Centre half Adam Thompson is also yet to kick the first ball of his season-long loan from Bury.

Yet McCall insists it was similar last term, with several senior pros not involved at first going on to play an important role.

"Our team was as good as it was last year because of the squad," said the Bantams manager.

"Think back to this time, up to Christmas and the next window, we had Nathan Clarke, Filipe Morais, Rory McArdle and Stephen Darby who weren't playing but were training at their maximum to get into the side.

"That's what these lads are doing. A few of them are new ones and they're not getting much game time, so it can be frustrating.

"The likes of big Adam Thompson, who has just come to the club, is training really well; McCartan, (Alex) Jones, Taylor. They haven't had much football but they've got to be ready.

"There will be injuries and loss of form. We're renowned for changing it up.

"They've got to keep doing what they are and training hard because it's the back-up squad that keeps pushing the team all the way.

"Most of those lads at the minute are new to the club. They are probably thinking they're not getting enough time.

"But they've got to be mentally right. Everyone is part of the squad and the way they are training is encouraging."

McCall beat Rotherham twice in his first spell as manager – but the Bantams have not won since March 2011 and not even managed to score in the last six meetings.

But they go into this game full of confidence after two strong away displays at Peterborough and Oxford and the City chief predicts Valley Parade will be bouncing.

McCall said: "It will be a good test for us. They are scoring lots of goals but so are we.

"I think derbies are great and I loved playing in them. You look back to last season and the big games against Bolton, Sheffield United and Scunthorpe.

"When the opposition bring a lot of fans, it's like a sing off. The intensity of the singing just goes up and it builds the atmosphere.

"I'm looking forward to a really good, attacking game."
