VISITORS to Saltaire Methodist Church were treated to an Edwardian style tea party focusing on the story of the local Suffragettes movement.

The event formed part of the Saltaire Festival which began on Friday.

Guests were treated to tea in the hall for the party which ran from 3pm to 5.30pm.

It had been organised by Helen Broadhead, of Helen’s History Walks and Talks, playwright Hattie Townsend and Emma Bradnum who runs theatre workshops for young people.

All three ladies dressed in Edwardian costume and spoke about local Suffragettes.

Emma Bradnum also sang and performed.

The tea party was just one of the many events organised throughout the festival which runs until Sunday, September 17.

Other events held in the UNESCO World heritage Site village included activities for children in Roberts Park and an exhibitions in Salts Mill celebrating Bradford artist David Hockney’s 80th birthday.
