FOLLOWING yesterday’s busy bank holiday Monday for the higher-ranking non-league clubs, tonight sees a return to action for the clubs on the lower steps of the pyramid.

Two clubs, in different leagues, both protecting their unbeaten starts in the new season have away fixtures as Liversedge and Silsden both go in search of victories.

Sedge travel to Barton Town for a Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division clash, and they will face a home side that are struggling.

The Old Boys lost 3-1 at home to Bridlington Town at the weekend and have taken just one point from their first four games.

Jonathan Rimmington’s Sedge earned a point from a tough derby as they drew 2-2 at Thackley, and that was enough to extend their unbeaten start.

Sedge have played four league games and two FA Cup ties and are yet to taste defeat, even though they needed a replay in the extra-preliminary round after drawing at Armthorpe Welfare.

Silsden’s hosts, in Division One of the Hallmark Security League, are Chadderton, who are also yet to lose.

However, while Silsden are joint top after winning all four of their league games, the home side have played just twice.

They earned a point from a 3-3 draw at Litherland REMYCA at the weekend after getting their campaign underway with a 4-0 home win over Carlisle City.
