THE makers of a horror film being shot in Bradford want to film a real wedding in the district.

Polterheist - a “gangsters and ghosts” tale about two small-time criminals who kidnap a psychic to find out where their dead boss stashed stolen loot - started out as an 18-minute film shot on a budget of just £1,000.

Filmed in Bradford, with support from the City of Film team, it went on to win praise at movie festivals around the world, scooping awards in America, Brazil, South Africa, across Europe and in the UK. Last year it won Best Short Film at Bradford’s Drunken Film Festival, beating 1,000 other films worldwide.

Following its success, director and co-writer David Gilbank set about turning it into a full-length film. He and the production team raised £45,000, and filming is now taking place in Bradford, Saltaire, Idle, Thackley and Keighley. Locations have included historic Undercliffe Cemetery, Lister Mills and Apperley Bridge, where scenes in the Leeds Liverpool canal were shot last week. A crowd scene involving more than 20 ghosts is due to be shot in Saltaire on Saturday.

Now the team would like to do some filming at a real Asian wedding in the district.

"We will give the couple any footage we film. We'd film for a single afternoon, all we need is our actors to do a small scene while the festivities are taking place. Once our film is out, the wedding will be famous!" said Mr Gilbank, who originally set out to raise £100,000 for the movie. "We've had to tighten our belts, but the film looks like it has a million pound budget. We're still looking for investors to help with post-production, we need another £20,000. There's a great return on investment offered."

He added: "This film is very much a Bradford project. It stars Bradford actors and extras, the crew are from Bradford, and it's all shot right across the district. We're all proud of Bradford, that's reflected in our work. There's a real buzz around filming projects in Bradford right now. We're filming through to December - we have a great cast."

Mr Gilbank said need extras aged 16 to 80 are required for a gun battle and a journalist's interview scene to be filmed in October and November.

"We were thrilled that our short film had so much success worldwide, and here in Bradford," he said. "We worked hard to achieve superb acting and world-class production values, and that was recognised internationally. This feature film looks set for even greater success."
